Listed are some of the larger events scheduled in Fairhaven for 2005 and 2006. The Fairhaven, MA, Office of Tourism publishes calendars of events twice a year, in late April and in early September, containing additional listings.


Memorial Day Parade
Monday, May 29, 2006, 8:30 a.m.
Main Street, from Center St. to River-Side Cemetery
Ceremony at Civil War Veterans Monument in River-Side Cemetery and flag raising at Fairhaven High School.

Fathers Day Road Race
Sunday, June 18, 2006, 9:00 a.m.
Begins/Ends at Hastings Middle School, School St.
10k TAC sanctioned race through the streets of historical Fairhaven. Features as many as 700 top New England runners. Cash Prizes.

Homecoming Day Fair
Saturday, June 24, 2006, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Center, William and Walnut streets, Fairhaven Center
175 booths of arts & crafts and food vendors, live entertainment, art show, children's activities. Free. Handicap parking available. Sponsored by the Fairhaven Improvement Association.

American History Costume Parade & Fort Phoenix
Independence Celebration

Monday, July 4, 2006, 9:30 a.m.
Parade route: Green Street
from Cushman Park to Fort Phoenix
Costume parade, which also includes vintage vehicles, military groups and more. At Fort Phoenix, there is a brief ceremony followed by a gun salute by costumed historical re-enactors and the firing of the fort's five Civil War era cannon. Free. Sponsored by the Fairhaven Office of Tourism.

NFIA Car Show & Fun Fair
Sunday, July 30, 2006, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Livesey Park, Glenhaven Avenue
150-plus antique and classic autos and motorcycles judged for prizes. Also kids games, food, public safety demos, entertainment and more. Free. Sponsored by the North Fairhaven Improvement Association.

Feast of Our Lady of Angels
Labor Day Weekend, 2006
Saturday, September 2, 6:00 p.m. to Midnight
Sunday, September 3, Noon to Midnight
Monday, September 4, Noon to 10:00 p.m. Procession at 1:00 p.m.
Our Lady of Angels Feast Grounds, 7 Jesse Street
Annual Portuguese feast includes Portuguese and American foods, live entertainment, auctions and more. On Monday there is a religious procession on Main Street from St. Mary's Church to Benoit Square. Sponsored by the Our Lady of Angels Catholic Association.

Fairhaven Village Militia
Fort Phoenix Days Encampment
Saturday, September 9 to Sunday, September 10, 2006
Cannon Firing at dusk (7:30 p.m.) on Saturday
Fort Phoenix, Fort Street
Historical Revolutionary War era encampment with men, women and children portraying local characters from 1778. Demonstrations of cooking, games, musket firing, tomahawk throwing. Cannons to be fired over harbor at dusk Saturday. Free. Sponsored by the Fairhaven Village Militia and the Fairhaven Office of Tourism.
